In our 3 parishes we are all visitors. We all have
friends and frequently or occasionally call on them. But do you know we have
people across the 3 parishes who seldom have a visitor. They are usually the
elderly who have become housebound. Together we can do something about this.
At the moment there is a group of people who are
willing to visit others in their parish. No need for anyone living in Bretherton
to go to Croston or anyone living in Croston to go to Mawdesley. There are more
than enough people in each parish. And we are sure you would want to visit in
your own parish.
Keep an eye on the monthly magazine and the weekly new
sheets as Rev Bill will put some information in for you to think about.
There is no training involved and you may discover
talents you didn't think you had. But do keep an open mind. Pastoral visiting is
such an important part of our ministry. It just may be that God is calling you
to join a team.
Do remember, you can join the
Ministry Visitor's Team as and when you feel ready and all you need
is an hour or so whenever you feel able to visit.
We are sure you will understand but if you are new to
our Churches we would expect you to be a regular member of one of the
congregations for 6 months before you can join the team.
Two other Ministry Teams operate within our Churches.
These are the Baptism's group and the
Music group. The Baptism's group meets for every
Baptism and welcomes families and friends as they come to a Baptism. They also
send cards on the anniversary of the Baptism until the child reaches school age.
The Music group sings at most of our services and mainly
during Holy Communion.
Both teams are always on the look out for new members;
they are not exclusive. It is not a lifelong commitment. Just as much time as
you are realistically able to give.
In the first instance speak to either Rev David or Rev
Bill. We look forward to hearing from you.
Every blessing,
David & Bill
